This is my father's record of his travels while aboard the USS Lanier in WWII. After finally docking on the east coast, he traveled west to San Diego where he was separated from active duty. On his way to San Diego, he stopped in Santa Fe before going to Phoenix to visit my mother (they were not yet married) who was in nurse's training at the Good Sammaritan Hospital. The entire journey involved automobiles, trains, naval ships, buses, a motorcycle and hitchhiking. This all took place in less than two years.
